5 February 2009

This meeting will launch the start of the Group’s field-walking season.

The guest speaker will be Matt Vickers, the chairman of Washingborough Field Walking Group who is also involved in the Lincolnshire Limewoods project and possesses an uncanny eye for spotting flints when field-walking.  His work in the Witham Valley involved a long-term programme of field-walking which led to many and varied finds.

Mr. Vickers has learned to knap flints as well as identify them and has put together a fascinating talk with plenty of samples to show.
